MAT 467 - Topology

Introduction to the concepts of point-set topology and those properties which describe and distinguish various topological spaces. Prerequisite: Grade of C- or better in MAT 224 and MAT 237. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Determine whether a given family of sets forms a topological space.
  2. Describe a given set or space in topological terms.
  3. Determine whether a given function between two spaces is continuous.
  4. Write formal mathematical proofs for topological statements.
