SCI 380 - Energy and the Environment

Study of the sources of energy used to fulfill society's needs: what they are, what they cost and how they affect the environment. Fulfills: GE 12. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of energy issues in order to make informed decisions for the future.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the physical effects of energy on the environment.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the manner in which value judgments are justified and how interpretation of technical information can lead to different conclusions.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the issues at the interface of science, technology and society and how the methods of science and scientific data are understood in the context of social issues.
