BIO 430 - Pathology

The pathological basis of human disease, including cell death, inflammation and repair, cancer, as well as selected diseases from all major body systems. Excludes infectious and genetic diseases. Prerequisites: BIO 305 or 324 or 514 or permission of instructor. Lecture/Lab Hours: Three lectures. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply biomedical terminology to effectively communicate about the pathology of human disease.
  2. Recognize the fundamental basis to human diseases including cell death, inflammation and cancer.
  3. Explain the pathogenesis of major human diseases in all body systems from a macroscopic and microscopic perspective, including modern imaging to make diagnoses.
