SOC 375 - Sociology of Law Law is analyzed with respect to its functions as a means of social control and its relationships with other social institutions. Topics include an interdisciplinary survey of jurisprudence, the natural law approach versus legal and cultural realism, law as a source of crime, the administration of justice, and law in non-Western cultures. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Summarize the primary components of the US legal system.
- Analyze relationships among social norms, legal structures, and both prosocial and antisocial behavior.
- Apply the interactive nature of legal structures to current events.
