Recreation in community agencies. History, organization, personnel, programming, finances, areas, facilities. Field trips may be required. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze the role of recreation in developing community.
  2. Outline the significant historical events that led to the establishment of municipal parks and recreation departments.
  3. Compare and contrast types of community recreation organizations.
  4. Explain various administrative aspects of community-based recreation including personnel, finances, facilities.
