HLH 391 - Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Epidemiological method, statistical techniques used in study of etiology, distribution and control of disease. Health majors only. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Utilize key valid sources of epidemiologic data.
  2. Calculate basic epidemiology measures of disease frequency and association.
  3. Differentiate between epidemiologic study designs and describe their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Construct a survey to gather information needed to investigate a health problem in a community.
  5. Describe the major ethical principles which must be upheld when conducting human subjects research.
