HIS 325 - Colonial Latin America

Critical examination of historical trends that shape Latin America's colonial development. Analyzes various historiographical approaches to colonialism.  Prerequisite: HIS 100, 101, 110, 111, 200, 201, AAS 100, IST 200 or 210. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to the history of colonial Latin America.
  2. Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
  3. Interpret evidence to make claims about the past.
