GRY 482 - The Geography of Latin America and the Caribbean

Regional description and analysis of the human and physical landscape of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Geographical analysis of the region's politics, culture and economy with a particular focus on the role of tourism in the development of its economy. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the distinctive features of the geographic setting of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  2. Compare and/or contrast the distinctive geographic features of one country in Latin America or the Caribbean with the United States.
  3. Identify and demonstrate knowledge of the main processes of geography and global issues in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean.
  4. Research, evaluate, and integrate information and data focusing on regional geography concepts through map use and written assignments.
