FRE 320 - French and Careers

Development of specific language skills for effective communication in everyday situations in fields such as tourism, business, banking, medicine, translation and interpreting. Use of authentic materials, role playing and practical written assignments. Prerequisites: FRE 202 or above. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the conventions of written French in a variety of business settings, including banking, information systems, tourism, medicine, advertisement, and import & export.
  2. Compose a resume in French and understand the procedures in applying for a job in France.
  3. Translate business dossiers between English and French.
  4. Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between American and French business worlds.
