FRE 312 - La Pratique de L'Écriture

Extensive writing in French on a wide range of topics explored through a variety of sample texts including electronic resources such as online government documents, radio and television materials, and various other literary and nonliterary texts, both current and historical. Discussions and written assignments submitted and evaluated in French. Emphasis on clarity of expression; attention to various styles of writing — descriptive, expository, persuasive, narrative, etc. Prerequisite: FRE 202 or above. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Use the present tense and supporting grammatical structures to write portraits and descriptions.
  2. Use the past tenses and supporting grammatical structures in order to write a past tense description and narration.
  3. Utilize editing and revision techniques effectively.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to present and support ideas by writing short academic compositions. 
  5. Distinguish between personal/informal writing and formal academic writing as well as produce adequate language based on contexts.
