ESL 300 - Theoretical Foundations of Teaching English as a Second Language A survey of the theoretical foundations of current trends in the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL). While the practical concerns of the ESL professional are addressed, emphasis is on the role of theories of English language learning and teaching in informing practice. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze and discuss current theories and research in SLA (Second Language Acquisition).
- Make connections between theories/research and ESL pedagogical practices.
- Analyze research articles in SLA and utilize the conventions of academic language in their critique of these articles.
