CRM 373 - Deviant Behavior

An introduction to the social production of normality and deviance, determinants of differential labeling and social responses to deviance. Prerequisite: ANT 102 or SOC 100 or 150. Also listed as SOC 373. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply core concepts and terminology in deviance studies.
  2. Analyze how norms and deviance vary by time, place and context.
  3. Evaluate how societies construct and respond to deviance using the sociological imagination.
  4. Describe theories of deviance.
