ATH 330 - Far Eastern Art

Introduction to art, architecture of Far East including India, China, Japan, Central Asia, Southeast Asia from periods of early river cultures through 19th century. Differences between Eastern, Western cultures; interaction among Far Eastern cultures; influence upon modern society stressed. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the creative process and the role of the imagination and aesthetic judgment of art and architecture of Far East including India, China, Japan, Central Asia, Southeast Asia from periods of early river cultures through 19th century.
  2. Evaluate the scholarly work of other art historians writing about their topic of works of art from a specific period and genre.
  3. Compose a well-organized research paper that effectively communicates an understanding and knowledge of art history, including an awareness of art historical terms, concepts, and issues from the period of our focus.
