ASL 102 - Beginning American Sign Language II

Continuation of work begun in ASL 101. Prerequisite: ASL 101. Fulfills: GE 9; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend and produce American Sign Language at a level commensurate with the novice mid level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in listening and speaking, which corresponds to signing in American Sign Language.
  2. Analyze and interpret Deaf culture in terms of products, practices, and perspectives at a level commensurate with the novice level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in intercultural communication.
