ANT 307 - World Prehistory

Survey of human cultures around the world from earliest evidence to development of civilizations. Human behavior in groups before the time of written records emphasized; comparison and contrast of such social organization through time provided. Prerequisite: ANT 102 or 300. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the major cultural, demographic and evolutionary milestones in human prehistory.
  2. Discuss the different ways ancient human societies around the world adapted to their physical and social environments.
  3. Compare the various methodologies and theories archaeologists have used to analyze the archaeological record.
