ANT 302 - Native American Cultures

Anthropological and Native American approaches to the study of indigenous or First Nations peoples. Prerequisite: ANT 102 or 300. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the widely varied indigenous and First Nations peoples of the Americas.
  2. Summarize the factors, including the legacy of settler colonialism, that have impacted indigenous American/First Nation peoples and cultures.
  3. Identify the anthropological ​and indigenous methods and theories used to study indigenous American/First Nations cultures.
  4. Critique colonial perceptions of indigenous American/First Nation cultures in the post-contact period.
