ANT 301 - Native American Archaeology

Aboriginal New World cultures before significant Old World contact; from simple tribal societies to civilizations of Meso-American and Andean regions. Prerequisite: ANT 102 or 300. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the theories and evidence for the peopling of the Western Hemisphere.
  2. Summarize the factors that influence(d) Native American cultural processes, institutions, and practices.
  3. Discuss the archaeological methods and theories used to describe and explain Native American cultures and societies.
  4. Critique archaeological approaches to describing and classifying Native American cultures and societies.
