AFS 402 - National Security Affairs/Preparation for Active Duty II

Continuation of AFS 401. Designed for college seniors and gives them the foundation to understand their role as military officers in American society. It is an overview of the complex social and political issues facing the military profession and requires a measure of sophistication commensurate with the senior college level. The final semester provides information that will prepare the cadets for Active Duty. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize to the contributions of various base agencies.
  2. Describe professional and unprofessional relationships and their impact on the mission.
  3. Describe the importance of Integrity First and Excellence in All We Do in decisions involving professional relationships.
  4. Discuss the Department of the Air Force policy on religious accommodation.
  5. Recall the basic elements of the military justice system.
  6. Describe the principles of corrective supervision.
  7. Describe the Department of the Air Force policy on sexual assault.
  8. List the key elements of the Airman Comprehensive Assessment (ACA) process
  9. Summarize the Enlisted and Officer Evaluation Systems.
  10. Advocate the proper use of leadership theories and principles.
  11. Describe the significant elements of military pay, allowances, and leave.
  12. Describe the Air Force and Space Force career progression and an officer's individual responsibilities in career development.
  13. Restate the purpose of a military officer's oath of office and commission.
