Racism: its origins in society and its manifestations in contemporary life. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Summarize the socio-historical developments and the origins of institutional racism.  
  2. Explain different Western theories pertaining to race, racism, and institutional racism.
  3. Explain critical legal theory, critical race theory, and systemic racism and their effects on race relations.
  4. Evaluate policies, programs, norms, and institutional behaviors that contribute to institutional racism and how to develop an antiracism society.
