CHE 500 - Advanced Organic Chemistry

Reaction mechanisms, physical organic chemistry and theoretical concepts in organic chemistry; recent developments. Prerequisites: CHE 302. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the mechanism by which a previously unencountered organic reaction occurs using curved arrow notation.
  2. Predict the outcome of an organic reaction using the principles of molecular orbital theory.
  3. Use the peer-reviewed literature to investigate new topics in organic chemistry.
