AED 643 - Methods II: Teaching the Sciences in the Middle and Secondary Schools(F)Students will participate in the development of sample course syllabi, a comprehensive laboratory safety plan, field trip proposal and strategies for facilitating parental/community involvement. Students will design and implement classroom demonstrations and laboratory exercises. Alignment of lesson plans with state and national learning standards and state core curriculum guides, strategies for motivation of students with diverse needs and learning styles, and development of assessment tools that parallel those of Regents examinations will be emphasized. Students will explore the uses of technology to enhance the teaching-learning environment in the science classroom. The course will conclude with a discussion of the importance of continuing self-evaluation and professional growth and development. Twenty-five hours of experience in middle and secondary school.Prerequisite: AED 642.(3 cr. hr.) Frequency code F = offered in fall
