CRM 485 - Capital Punishment

(C)Examination of the death penalty as an element of American criminal justice policy. Topics include the development of the modern system of capital punishment; the responsibilities and experiences of attorneys, jurors, prison personnel and others in its implementation; the social network of death row; and empirical research on deterrence, sentencing disparities by race, and death penalty's fiscal impact, the estimated probability of miscarriages of justice, and other issues in the current policy debate.Prerequisite: ANT 102 or SOC 100 or 150.Fulfills Liberal Arts (LAS) Requirement nAlso listed As: Also listed as SOC 485(3 cr. hr.)
