The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) microcredential is designed for students who have initial or professional teacher certification and are seeking to obtain an additional initial classroom teaching certificate in TESOL.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Know and use applied linguistics including morphology, syntax, phonology and variation when teaching English as a second language.
- Describe and apply English grammar from a three-dimensional pespective including structure, meaning and use.
- Demonstrate knowledge of theoretical linguistics and analyze language using linguistic terminology.
- Create lesson plans that include learning activities and supports necessary for teaching English language learners mathematics, literacy, sciences and social studies.
