This program in the Kinesiology Department provides a theoretical and practical knowledge base for students who are interested in working in a fitness or athletic setting. Students in this program have the opportunity to prepare for careers in fitness management, wellness promotion, athletic development, and/or other fitness-related occupations.
This program can lead to certification as a health/fitness instructor, personal trainer, and/or certified strength and conditioning specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The program is an educationally recognized program by the NSCA.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate effective communication in both oral and/or written forms.
- Evaluate fitness assessments and exercise techniques using discipline-based knowledge.
- Create evidence-informed exercise programs for diverse populations.
- Demonstrate safe and effective implementation of evidence-informed exercise assessments and programs.
