This interdisciplinary minor is open to students in all majors. It is valuable to students preparing for careers in elementary and secondary education, scouting, adventure programming, youth and community groups, nature centers, state and national parks, conservation biology and organized outdoor camping programs.

The minor is organized around a core group of courses and allows students to select one of the following specialized "tracks": environmental education and interpretation, outdoor pursuits or organized camping.

Requirements for the Minor

A. Core: 12-13 credit hours from the following

A practicum experience is required of all students. Students may meet this requirement by completing REC 370 Outdoor Education Practicum (3 cr. hr.) or by completing another practicum approved by the outdoor education minor advisor.
