The Kinesiology Department offers the major in sport studies which provides a liberal arts and sciences approach to studying human movement through the humanities and social science sub disciplines of the field. The humanities sub disciplines include sport history and sport philosophy, and can be expanded to include sport art, sport communication and journalism, sport literature, and sport law. The social science sub disciplines include sport and exercise psychology and sport sociology.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate content knowledge in Sport Studies
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate ability to think critically about information in Sport Studies
- Demonstrate cultural competence in Sport Studies

B. Kinesiology Theory Core: 21 credit hours
C. Sport Studies Theory Core: 18 credit hours
D. Sport Studies Theory Electives: 18 credit hours
