This major in the Geology Department  with a concentration in environmental science provides a broad-based program designed to meet the professional and graduate school demands of environmental geoscientists.

A. Required Courses in Geology: 29-30 credit hours


B. Elective Courses in Geology: 5-6 credit hours


Choose five to six credit hours from the following to bring the total in Geology (GLY) courses to 35 credit hours.

D. College Requirements: 36-39 credit hours


  • Composition and General Education Courses: 24-27 credit hours
  • Free Elective Courses: 12 credit hours
  • The General Education requirements in the following categories are satisfied by courses in the program:
    • Quantitative Skills (Category 1)
    • Natural Sciences (Categories 2 and 13)
    • Social Science (Category 3)
