Whether you love karate, rugby or lacrosse, you can combine your passion for sport with extensive study in global business, marketing and legal and cultural practices through the M.S. in international sport management - dual diploma program at SUNY Cortland, in cooperation with the London Metropolitan University Business School.
Program Highlights
You’re admitted simultaneously to both institutions for this 36-credit-hour program, which includes at least one residential semester of course work in each location. When you successfully complete the required internship and thesis, you’re awarded the Master of Science (M.S.) from SUNY Cortland and the Master of Science (M.Sc.) from the London Metropolitan University Business School.

Evaluation Policy

Required Materials
U.S. residents and international students
- Completed Online Graduate Application - Apply Now
- Official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended to be forwarded directly to the SUNY Cortland Graduate Admissions Office
- Either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores to be sent to SUNY Cortland by Educational Testing Service (ETS). A waiver for the test requirement may be given to students that have a 3.3 or better overall GPA or can document 5 years of industry experience in a related field
- A 250-500 word essay or a portfolio of professional practice or a personal statement of your professional and educational goals
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation, including at least one academic and one professional letter
- A resume, submitted online with application
- Additional supplemental materials may be requested as determined by the department such as an interview.
Additional International Student Required Materials
If you are a foreign national, you are strongly encouraged to apply for this degree program in International Sport Management. Personal interviews, though strongly recommended, can be substituted with a telephone interview as an alternative. In addition to admission and program requirements pertaining to graduate study listed in this catalog, you also will need to complete the following requirements to be considered for admission:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be required if English is not your first language and not common as an official language of your nation of status/citizenship.
- Official college transcripts with professional translation of all documents into English along with the original documents.
- Financial support statement
Admissions Criteria
- A minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.8 or its equivalent is preferred. If you have an undergraduate grade point average below 2.8 your application will be reviewed for admission on a case-by case basis, taking into consideration standardized test scores, your personal statement, letters of recommendation and any previous industry experience.
- Please be aware that, upon acceptance into this program, there will be some additional costs and fees asociated with the program over and above standard tuition, academic fees and living costs charged to all students.
Additional International Student Admission Criteria
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam report with a minimum score of 550 (paper version) or 213 (computerized version), and 79 Internet equivalent on the U.S. scale. If you are at or slightly above these minimum scores, you may be asked to provide additional evidence of English proficiency. If you are interested in pursuing a dual degree program, you will be expected to meet the English proficiency standards of both institutions.
- Applications will be reviewed for admission based on academic accomplishments and the level of proficiency in the English language. Immigration form I–20, which is used to secure an F-1 visa, will be issued once all required information has been received and you have been accepted to SUNY Cortland.
