The Kinesiology Department offers the Athletic training undergraduate program leading to a bachelor of science degree. The program is formally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
Students admitted to SUNY Cortland will be advised into coursework appropriate to the degree. However, to remain in the program and qualify for the clinical experience, students must complete an internal application review by the selection committee which takes place during the fall of each semester.
At the completion of the program, students are eligible for the Board of Certification Examination. The program is also recognized by the New York State Education Department for Registration as a license-qualifying program for professional purposes.
The number of students admitted into the program is governed by CAATE Standards. The ratio of students/instructor is maintained at approximately 8:1.
Additional information regarding the Program mission, objectives, the selection process and the technical standards which establish the essential qualities considered necessary for students admitted to the program are available at www.cortland.edu/kin/ or from the athletic training program director.
