Community Health [CHEA]

This degree program in the Health Department  has been designed for students interested in preparing for health careers in community/public health settings. Students participate in a full semester internship experience. A number of concentrations are available to help meet specific career interests of students.

Please note: The major in Community Health replaces the Health Science degree. This revised program provides the same flexibility as the former health science degree while adding new key skills and competencies needed for entry level positions and graduate school programs in a variety of areas.

Bachelor of Science in Community Health


C. Fieldwork: 16 credit hours


Overall 2.5 grade point average required

D. Health Electives: Nine credit hours


Students select courses based on professional interests. The following courses are typical electives in this program.

E. Optional Concentration Requirements


Students in the Community Health program also may elect one of the following concentrations in addition to the core course of study: Allied Health, College Health Promotion and Prevention Services, Environmental Health, Health Care Administration and Planning, Health Communication, International Health, or Wellness and Health Promotion.
