Major in Art with a concentration in Studio Art


The B.A. in studio art is a well-rounded degree program in studio art with a strong basis in liberal arts. It is intended for students who plan to pursue a generalized career in art or to prepare for graduate study. The degree requires 48 credit hours in the major, including foundation, skills core, studio specialization and four art history courses. Specializations include painting, print media, fiber arts, ceramics and sculpture. The B.A. program does not require a portfolio review for admission. Career Potential

Artists, designers and educators in ceramics, fiber arts, painting, print media, sculpture, new media design and graphic design.

Art-related fields such as corporate art buyer, art publications employee, art writer, art handler, gallery preparatory staffer, facilitator for nonprofits, arts festivals and community arts organizations.

Specialization: select a sequence in one of the following areas - Ceramics: ATS 204 and 304; Fibers: ATS 308 and 408; Painting: ATS 203 and 303; Print Media: ATS 207 and 307, or ATS 209 and 309; Sculpture: ATS 206 and 306.

Additional courses:


Select six credit hours of related electives chosen in consultation with advisor; including one ATH course at the 300-level or above, which must be writing intensive.
