Psychology (B.S.) [PSY]

The B.S. requires 0-3 credit hours of foreign language.

The major provides a broad base of understanding of psychology as a science — the methodology of the discipline, the principles and concepts in major areas, and selected areas of application. Major areas include research methods, as well as a broad range of areas represented in the four-group distribution.

B. Other: 21 credit hours


One course from two of the following groups and two courses from the other two groups plus an additional lab course from Group I.

Group I: Experimental Psychology


Note: The following are lab courses.

Group III: Personality Psychology


Group IV: Applied Psychology


C. Courses in Related Areas for the Bachelor of Science: 21 credit hours


Bachelor of Science candidates must take the required credit hours listed for each discipline.

Anthropology/Sociology: 6 credit hours


Choose from the following courses or any other undergraduate sociology/anthropology course that has these as a prerequisite.

Select either:


Philosophy: 3 credit hours


Other philosophy courses may be substituted with the approval of the Psychology Department.

Computer Applications: 3 credit hours


Mathematics: 3 credit hours


Choose from the following courses, or any other undergraduate mathematics course that has these as a prerequisite.

D. Additional Courses in Related Areas for the Bachelor of Science: 6 credit hours


Select any two courses from biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics. These additional six credit hours may not include courses used to fulfill the "Related Area Requirement for the Bachelor of Science" above.
