Description

The Mathematics Department offers programs for students interested in developing quantitative, logical reasoning and problem solving skills in preparation for careers in business, government or industry, or for graduate study in mathematics. Students interested in teaching may choose a concentration leading to initial certification in mathematics or joint certification in physics and mathematics for grades 7-12.

Requirements

  1. Degree requirements  listed in this catalog apply to the majors offered by this department.
  2. Liberal Arts Requirements: B.A. – 90 credit hours; B.S. – 60 credit hours
  3. Students transferring to SUNY Cortland from other colleges intending to major in mathematics should have completed at least 12 credit hours of calculus and six credit hours of additional mathematics at the calculus level or above by the beginning of their junior year.
