If you have an initial certificate or a provisional license in teaching secondary social studies, the M.A. in history will help you gain professional or permanent certification.

The Master of Science in Education in adolescence education: social studies is for you if you are teaching social studies in grades 7-12 and are seeking a professional certificate or permanent certification. Since substantial graduate-level work is done in either history or geography, you also may want to use your degree for careers relevant to those academic fields.
