MAT 455 - Mathematical Statistics

An introduction to the theory of mathematical statistics, population and sampling distributions, point estimation, interval estimation and hypothesis testing. Prerequisite: MAT 450. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Perform standard statistical inference such as point estimation and hypothesis testing.
  2. Derive and assess point estimators and confidence regions.
  3. Determine appropriate procedures to use for statistical inference.
  4. Interpret the results of statistical analyses.
