HLH 230 - Advocacy and Contemporary Issues in College Health An examination of advocacy for contemporary health issues among college students. A major component of the course is advocating for self, others and for change at the local, state and federal levels. Topics include healthy decision-making and advocacy among a variety of contemporary college health issues. Prerequisite: HLH 203 (for Health Department Majors); or HLH 110 (for non-majors). Fulfills: GE 10; PRES. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Create coherent texts within common college-level written forms.
- Demonstrate the ability to revise and improve written texts.
- Examine a research a topic, develop an argument, and organize supporting details.
- Employ proficiency in oral discourse.
- Evaluate an oral presentation according to established criteria.
