CAP 209 - Introduction to Programming with Python

Introduction to computer programming using the Python computer language. Topics may include data types, control structures, loops, strings, functions, lists, tuples and arrays. Prerequisite: CAP 100. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of object-oriented programming concepts as implemented in Python.
  2. Make use of algorithms to find solutions to real-world and computational problems.
  3. Create, modify and run Python scripts.
  4. Display algorithmic problem-solving skills using sequence, selection and repetition structures.
  5. Manipulate data types and demonstrate an understanding of tuples, lists, sets and dictionaries.
  6. Incorporate program functions, arguments, and basic searching and sorting algorithms.
