SPM 447 - Intercollegiate Administration and Governance Focus on analyzing and evaluating the structure and function of the current system of intercollegiate athletics, specifically with regard to programs at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels. Students are required to complete a culminating project related to intercollegiate athletics administration. Prerequisites: SPM 247. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the major functions of an intercollegiate athletic department.
- Distinguish differences between Division I, II, and II athletic department structures and functions.
- Discuss ethical concepts related to intercollegiate administration.
- Analyze concepts of administration to understand strengths, weaknesses, and areas for change in athletic administration.
