HIS 311 - American intellectual and Cultural History Since 1865 Critical examination of the history of American thought and culture from the American Civil War to the present, with attention to historiographical questions. Prerequisite: HIS 200 or 201. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the historical significance of key themes, events and people relevant to the history of American intellectual and cultural history since 1865.
- Interpret evidence to make claims about the past.
- Establish a source's historical context through sourcing techniques (for example, by identifying its author, date and place of production, form and intended audience).
