EXS 522 - Sport in Contemporary Society

Study of sport from social perspective, investigating the interrelationship of sport to other institutions. Course offers opportunity for critical review of literature in area of sport in society. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe how sport influences values, attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, behavior, culture, and society.
  2. Describe issues regarding race, class, gender, disability, and sexual orientation within the context of sport.
  3. Identify social problems and social issues associated with sports in society.
  4. Describe research methods used in sport sociology.
