EXS 397 - Exercise Physiology

Physiological adjustments, changes occurring in human organism as a result of physical activity. Physiology of muscular contraction; role of circulatory and respiratory systems in exercise. Lectures, recitation, laboratory. Prerequisites: BIO 206, or BIO 301 and 302, or BIO 324 and 514. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the acute physiological changes that occur during exercise.
  2. Analyze means maintaining the body in optimum physiological status for exercise.
  3. Summarize the physiological adaptations that occur following chronic exercise training.
  4. Report the health benefits of a consistent exercise program.
  5. Identify how the various systems of the human body connect in response to exercise.
