EXS 201 - Statistics in Exercise Science

This is an introductory statistics course with applications in exercise science. Content includes descriptive and inferential statistics, including central tendency, variability, correlation, regression, t-tests, analysis of variance and various nonparametric tests. Computerized statistical analyses are embedded throughout the course. Also listed as COM 230, ECO 221, MAT 201, or PSY 201. Fulfills: GE 1, GEMA; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Interpret and draw inferences from mathematical models such as formulas, graphs, tables and schematics.
  2. Represent mathematical information symbolically, visually, numerically and verbally.
  3. Employ quantitative methods, such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry or statistics, to solve problems.
  4. Estimate and check mathematical results for reasonableness.
  5. Recognize the limits of mathematical and statistical methods.
