PSY 521 - Abnormal Psychology

Characteristics, etiology and treatment of abnormal behavior patterns. Field study may be assigned. Prerequisite: PSY 101 or consent of department. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe the major psychological disorders.
  2. Identify and explain psychological, cognitive, and physiological correlates of abnormal behavior.
  3. Examine methods of assessment and treatment of mental disorders.
  4. Apply theoretical perspectives to the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
