ICC 146 - Academic Writing Across Disciplines

Instructs international students (students whose first language is not English) and TESOL majors in academic process writing and genre-specific language features. Special emphasis is also placed on discipline-specific writing assignments. Prerequisite: Consent of department. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code S = offered in spring

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and use register-specific language when interacting with their peers and their professors.
  2. Analyze and critique academic language when reading scholarly work, writing papers, and completing university assignments.
  3. Develop, revise, and compose the written and spoken language of academic disciplines and genre-specific discourse.
