HLH 392 - Environmental Pollutants and Toxicology

Study of health problems associated with toxic substances in the environment. Classification of contaminants, their behavior in the ecosystem, bioconcentration, risk assessment and management techniques will be covered. Notes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe theories and methods in chemical properties of different groups of compounds and biological effects and important cycles.
  2. Explain physicochemical or biophysical processes of importance to the natural environment.
  3. Explore the history of environmental pollutants and toxicology.
