EXS 325 - Principles of Strength and Conditioning

Introduction to the concepts and applicable activities used in designing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programs for athletic populations. Prerequisite: BIO 206 or BIO 301.  (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply functional understanding of strength and conditioning as it relates to athletics.
  2. Explain the concepts and applications of the exercise sciences.
  3. Describe the common exercises identified by the NSCA and the proper lifting and spotting techniques for those exercises.
  4. Identify the components of a strength and conditioning program and be able to develop and design an effective program.
  5. Explain the strength and conditioning professional's role during injury, rehabilitation and reconditioning.
