Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the media's relationship with the political system, including governing institutions, non-governmental political interests, and the public.
  2. Explain the parameters of the First Amendment and related law and its impact on the media.
  3. Explain the impact of media training and norms on reporting.
  4. Describe the controversies surrounding the debate over media bias.
