Survey of the mass media from an historical perspective, with an emphasis on the social, political and economic environments in which those media developed. Fulfills: GE 4, GEUS; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify key historical developments in communication.
  2. Articulate the relationship between the development of communication and social, cultural, political, economic and intellectual movements throughout history.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of how media affect how people think, act and organize their lives.
