BIO 111 - Principles of Biology II

Physiology and ecological concepts of biology as related to higher animals and plants. Students seeking GE 2 [GENS], Natural Sciences credit, should enroll in BIO 113 the same semester. Not open to those having college credit for BIO 201 and 202 (or equivalent) or to biology majors. Lecture/Lab Hours: Lecture only. Fulfills: GE 2, GENS; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the structure and functions of tissues, organs and organ systems in order to allow an organism to complete life functions.
  2. Identify and describe terrestrial and marine biomes.
  3. Explain different ways organisms interact with each other and with their environment.
  4. Discuss human impact on local and global ecosystems.
