ASL 202 - Intermediate American Sign Language II

Continuation of work undertaken in Intermediate Sign Language I. Prerequisite: ASL 201. Fulfills: GE 9, GEWL; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend and produce American Sign Language at a level commensurate with the intermediate low level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in listening and speaking, which corresponds to signing in American Sign Language.
  2. Analyze and interpret Deaf culture in terms of products, practices, and perspectives at a level commensurate with the intermediate level or higher as described in the current ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks and Performance Indicators for language learners in intercultural communication.
